Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth." Genesis 9:13

Yeesh

I just deleted someone I've been following for a few years from my google reader.  I generally will leave blogs I don't even read on there just because I hate deleting.  But this one has had several statements I've been bothered by, and I just found my endpoint:  If you are going to help the homeless don't turn around and complain when some of them are mentally ill---and don't withhold your help on that basis.  Really????  To do so is Christian HOW?

Merry Christmas........

(I'm really not in this awful mood as this sounds like.  I'm tired but I got a lot done today and I still have a lot of paperwork to complete.  I just hate people's attitudes sometimes.  I quit reading facebook (which I just joined) because I don't have time to bother with figuring out how to hide a distant relative who made "retard" jokes which multiple people actually "liked" her for.  I'll go back when I'm not too tired to find a way to get rid of her.)

I won't even do Facebook myself. My husband is on there and he handles it for both of us. There is a way; he's done it with distant relatives and friends of friends of friends (that's one degree too far for him).

My BIL's mother died on the streets after her inpatient mental health facility run by the state closed. She had been inpatient for years, because in the 1950's and 60's there were very few effective treatments.

He got an apartment for her, tried to help her take her meds, made sure she had food, and then she just disappeared. He tried to find her but Los Angeles is a big place where confused people can just disappear. The police found him after she was gone.

He has a daughter and a grand daughter who seem to have inherited similar issues. At least they have medication, but his daughter still struggles and has been homeless more than once.

Maybe I am able to put a human face on this because I know someone who has been homeless through no fault of her own.

I cannot STAND "retard" remarks or mocking imitations of the challenges of those with C.P., etc. That's really a "litmus" test of someone's character as far as I'm concerned.

Washer repairman on the way....better go...but I'm sending you blessings.

May you find some moments to slow down. This is part of an on-line devotional that arrived today.

It's about letting a "hush" fall during this season:

"For a time you may put aside the loves of earth, and your human friendships, so that the vibrations from the heart of the Eternal may stir your hearts, and strengthen your lives."
